Oil and Gas Refining

Practical FR Workwear for Your Industry

Anywhere there is the potential for the release of a fuel, such as flammable gas or vapors, there is the possibility of a flash fire. Employees in the oil and gas refining industry may, due to the nature of their work, be exposed to flame and thermal hazards. Flame-resistant (FR) clothing can offer valuable protection.

Hazards and Standards

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires all workplaces to be evaluated for potential hazards, such as flash fire. It also mandates that if personal protective equipment (PPE) can help protect workers against such hazards, it must be worn. NFPA 2112 and NFPA 2113 establish additional criteria for determining the necessary level of FR protection.
