Here are a couple of interesting statistics from NSC:

1. Injuries from wearing high heels have doubled: Proof that we’ll spend time and money to study anything.

High heels are fashionable, but – as many people who wear them can attest – the shoes also present injury risks. Injuries related to wearing high-heel shoes doubled from 2002 to 2012, according to a study from the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

2. Twenty-seven percent of crashes caused by cell phones, NSC says: Keep your eyes on the road not your cell phone.

Cell phone-related motor vehicle crashes have increased for the third year in a row, accounting for 27 percent of all crashes, according to recent National Safety Council estimates. In addition, the data indicates that texting-related crashes increased to 6 percent from 5 percent.
