The revised OSHA 1910.269 rule had the date of January 1, 2015 as the date by which utilities had to have performed a system assessment to determine the arc flash incident energy potential. That date has been pushed out until February 17, 2015. We’ll have to see if that date stays firm or gets moved out further.
The next critical date is for the utility to provide employees with arc rated clothing that is equal to or greater than what was determined by the assessment. That date is currently set for April 1, 2015. With the assessment date being delayed, we’ll see if the clothing compliance date also gets moved out. Stay tuned.
