I just read an interesting article from Canada’s oil and gas magazine, Pipeline. The article speaks to the volatility of the light crude oil, like the oil that exploded after the train crash in Lac-Megantic, Quebec last year. This same type of oil is what is coming out of the Bakken shale region and is much more volatile than typical heavy crude. This is good information for those who might be handling this type of light crude.
